Amazfit Balance Review – Best Smartwatch in 2023
PPG Accuracy and Dual Band GPS Positioning
The Amazfit Balance smartwatch boasts excellent PPG accuracy during my testings over the past few days. What’s even more interesting is its Dual Band GPS positioning feature, which utilizes multiple satellite positioning systems. I also compared it with other devices such as cyclocom, and the results were very accurate. The smartwatch comes with a complete set of sensors including acceleration, gyro, air pressure, impedance temperature, and more. Additionally, it has a built-in microphone and speaker at the bottom, allowing users to make phone calls and receive notifications or listen to music directly from the watch. In terms of connectivity, the Amazfit Balance uses Bluetooth 5.0 and supports both iOS and Android through the Zep app. The operating system, Zapos 3.0, adds to the overall smooth experience. Moreover, the smartwatch can be connected to other devices such as workout accessories or headsets, allowing users to listen to stored music without the need for a smartphone. Water resistance is also ensured, with a grade of 5 ATM, making the Amazfit Balance suitable for any activity, including swimming.
Impressive Display and Long Battery Life
The Amazfit Balance features a 1.5-inch AMOLED display, which is the largest among other Amazfit smartwatches. The touch screen is protected with tempered glass and coating, ensuring durability. The screen resolution stands at 480 x 480 pixels with a pixel density of 323 PPI. I was truly impressed by the screen’s brightness and level of detail, especially when used outdoors. The maximum brightness reaches 1500 nits, maintaining clear visibility even in bright sunlight. The touch responsiveness is also smooth and accurate, providing a seamless navigation experience. As for battery life, the Amazfit Balance performs well, lasting approximately 14 days under normal usage. However, with the always-on display enabled, the battery life ranges from 6 to 7 days, which is still decent. The smartwatch has a 475mAh battery capacity and supports magnetic charging, although wireless charging is not available.
User Interface and Features
The Amazfit Balance offers a variety of customizable watch faces, with hundreds available for download through the Zap app. Users can store up to 12 watch faces on the device for quick switching. It is also possible to personalize the watch face by using personal photos. Swiping down on the screen reveals the control panel, while swiping up shows notification windows from a connected smartphone. Swiping to the right provides access to widgets such as weather, alarm, and heart rate, among others. Swiping to the left allows users to access shortcut apps, which can be customized according to preference. Additionally, the buttons on the watch can also be customized. The Amazfit Balance introduces a new feature, NFC, which enables contactless payments using Zep Pay. By linking the Zep Pay app with a MasterCard, users can conveniently use their smartwatch for transactions. However, it is worth noting that this feature currently only works in certain European countries and is not available in Indonesia.
Unique Readiness Feature
One of the standout features of the Amazfit Balance is the readiness feature, which provides a score indicating the readiness of the body every morning before starting any activity. This score is based on various data collected by the smartwatch, including heart rate
