Unboxing the Amazfit TREX 2
To start off, we turn on the smartwatch by pressing the select button located at the top right corner. Once the Amazfit TREX 2 is powered on, the screen displays the Amazfit logo and prompts us to choose the language we want to use for operating the smartwatch. With over 30 languages available, one of them being Bahasa Indonesia, we select our preferred language and press select. This brings up a barcode on the screen, which we are instructed to scan to establish a connection between the smartwatch and our device. Before scanning the barcode, we need to install an application called Zap Zepp. Android users can find it on the Play Store, while iOS users can download it from the App Store. According to the information provided, the Amazfit TREX 2 is compatible with Android 7.0 and iOS 12.0.
Charging the Smartwatch
Prior to pairing the smartwatch with our device, a demonstration on how to charge the device is shown. We open the back of the smartwatch and attach the magnetic PIN charger. The Amazfit TREX 2 immediately starts charging with the input power of 5 volts.
Pairing with a Device
After completing the installation on our device, we are instructed to choose our country (Indonesia) and fill in our profile information. Skipping these steps, we then select the “watch” option as we want to pair the smartwatch. An alert to enable Bluetooth appears, and we turn it on. We then proceed to scan the displayed barcode on the Amazfit TREX 2 screen by aligning our device’s camera with it. Once the pairing process is complete, the screen on both the smartwatch and our device will show a confirmation.
Specifications
The Amazfit TREX 2 has a weight of 665 grams, including the strap. The watch’s body is made of polymer alloy, while the strap is made of durable and flexible silicone. Besides its touchscreen feature, it also has four buttons for control two on the right (select and back), and two on the left (up and down). The smartwatch is recommended for adventure enthusiasts as it meets the military standard MIL-STD-810G, making it resistant to heat, cold, humidity, water, saltwater spray, and shock. It can withstand temperatures up to 70 degrees Celsius and as low as 40 degrees Celsius.
User Interface and Display
The user interface of the Amazfit TREX 2 is similar to Samsung’s, making it easy to navigate. Swiping left, right, up, or down allows for quick access to different features. The display of the smartwatch is impressive, with a 1.39-inch diameter and a resolution of up to 326 PPI. The AMOLED panel provides vibrant colors, and the brightness levels can go up to 1000 nits. However, it’s important to note that even with such high brightness, it may not be sufficient to combat direct sunlight, such as during noon.

Control Center and Display Features
When using the AMAZFIT TREX 2, you will notice that it has a fairly high brightness level, allowing you to see the screen even under direct sunlight. The control center can be accessed by swiping from top to bottom on the screen. Within the control center, you will find various options. The flashlight mode, called “senter” in Indonesian, can be activated by pressing the corresponding icon. Additionally, there is a night mode and a theater mode available.
The screen on time feature shows you the duration for which the screen has been active. You can also adjust the date and time settings in this section. Another interesting feature is the buzzer intensity, which allows you to customize the intensity of the notifications. The battery status is also displayed, along with the option to enable or disable auto brightness. This feature automatically adjusts the screen brightness based on the ambient lighting conditions.
Additional Control Center Features
By swiping to the left, you will access an additional control center. Here, you can find the alarm feature and the unlock feature. The unlock feature helps prevent accidental touches on the screen. To disable it, simply press and hold the select button. Notifications can be viewed by swiping from right to left. However, it is important to note that you can only view notifications on the AMAZFIT TREX 2; you cannot reply to messages or answer incoming calls.
Customizable Widgets and Workout Features
Swiping from bottom to top will display the widgets on the screen. These widgets can be customized according to your preferences. If you swipe from right to left, you will find various features available on the AMAZFIT TREX 2. Some of these features include a pedometer, workout tracker, blood oxygen measurement, and barometer. There are many more features available on this smartwatch, providing a wide range of options for users.
Customizable Watch Faces
The watch face on the AMAZFIT TREX 2 can be changed by pressing and holding the screen in the middle. You can swipe right to browse through the available watch face options. If you feel that the provided watch faces are not to your liking, you can download additional ones from the Zap app, which can be installed on your smartphone. You also have the option to create custom watch faces using your own images.
Battery Life
The AMAZFIT TREX 2 is equipped with a 500mAh battery, which can last for approximately 24 days depending on your usage. It is important to note that the battery life may vary based on how you use the smartwatch. It offers a decent battery capacity, ensuring that you can use it for an extended period before needing to recharge.
